“For Patellas that like to go places” is a hand-draw design sketch of Dr. Vasavada’s very own postoperative X-ray, which she created and gifted to her surgeon six weeks after her Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction and Tibial Tubercle (Fulkerson) Osteotomy. It is a celebration of her lived experience of a patella that likes to go places (patellar instability!). Dr. Vasavada’s extensive rehabilitation and Club Pilates journey and her comeback from various orthopedic injuries fuel her purpose as an orthopedic surgeon - to get people back in the game.
Move it to the Groove is a hand drawn piece Dr. Vasavada created for Dr. Fulkerson himself here at Yale. Dr. Fulkerson developed the Fulkerson osteotomy, a procedure which revolutionized the treatment of patellar instability and has been life altering for many patients including Dr. Vasavada herself.
