About

Dr. Kinjal Vasavada MD is an orthopedic surgery resident at Yale who grew up creating art with many different media with her mother and sister. As a student at Stanford's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) and a design strategy consultant at Jump Associates, Dr. Vasavada learned design sketching methodology to communicate abstract concepts quickly and concretely. Dr. Vasavada’s hand draw pieces use engineering drawing tools (copic art markers, T squares, French curves) to create “the one hour version” of complex prototypes for rapid iterative design cycles. Initially she applied these skills in helping design store fronts for a big box retailer and building a standing positioner for kids with cerebral palsy in Cape Town, SA.

Now, Dr. Vasavada brings her design sketching experiences to her career in orthopedic surgery and to the Club Pilates studio to illustrate injury patterns, physical exam maneuvers, human anatomy, and surgical techniques.
